Mama Red And The Dark Blues
Aminah Hughes
Mama Red and the Dark Blues play harmony-drenched country blues with more than a hint of gothic noir. The brainchild of Harry Deluxe and Melanie Bainbridge, they will charm you with their beguiling songs of loves lost, romantic revenge of the foibles of humanity. Ever messing with stereotypes, Mama Red and the Dark Blues have an artistic vision that refuses to be confined by expectations of genre. They’re packed with tongue-in-cheek goodness, music that will move your mind and your soul, and just enough barbs to keep you hooked on their Siren songs for ever.
Aminah Hughes is an internationally acclaimed singer and song writer who currently makes her home in Perth. With a spellbinding stage presence, honeyed voice and songs that traverse blues, gospel and country, Aminah is a rare talent. Having played and written music with the likes of Tommy Emanuel and Bob Dylan’s backing vocalists, the McCrary Sisters, Aminah tells wonderfully vivid tales of love and rebellion, campfires and warriors, the earth and the moon, injustice and freedom with every lyric, every word of her song cycle.
